Under your hat - Meaning: Keep it secret.
Up the apples and pears - Meaning: Up the stairs.
Upset the apple-cart - Meaning: To cause upset - to create a difficulty.
Up to snuff - Meaning: Initially, the phrase meant ’sharp and in the know’; more recently, ‘up to the required standard’.
Upper crust - Meaning: Aristocratic; society superior.
Usual suspects - Meaning: The people habitually suspected or arrested in response to a crime. The phrase is usually used in regard to scapegoats rather than actual perpetrators of the crime in question.
Up a blind alley - Meaning: Following a course of action that leads to no good outcome.

Vanish into thin air - Meaning: Disappear without trace.
Veg out - Meaning: Relax in a slothful and mindless manner.
Vice-versa - Meaning: The reverse of the previous statement, with the main items transposed.
Vicious circle - Meaning: A self-perpetuating process which returns to its starting point with no improvement from when it was begun
